This page lets you perform a Whois query for a domain. Enter a domain above and optionally enter whois server to perform the search against
If you leave the Whois server blank we will try to determine the correct server to search against. If needed we will perform a second Whois query to retrieve the registration details (see "thin" client below).
A Whois query takes a couple of steps to complete. First we have to perform a DNS query against the whois-servers.net service. To decide which is the correct server we use the top level domain of the Whois request, e.g. yahoo.com would be com.whois-servers.net, yahoo.co.uk would be uk.whois-servers.net. This will give us a Whois server to perform the request against

If the registry uses the "thin" model then the first request may not return the actual Whois registration, the response will give the correct server within the returned data though. There would normally be a line something like 'Whois server: xxxx.yyy.zzz'. We then need to perform the request again against this server
